Goal
To provide healthcare professionals with didactic and psychomotor skills training in the:
- Identification of events that may lead to a cardiac arrest in an adult.
- Care of an adult in cardiac arrest.
- Care of the adult patient during the period immediately following a cardiac arrest.
Requirements for Course Completion
Given a patient situation, perform competently in the management of each of the following situations:
- Respiratory Arrest
- Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
- Pulseless Ventricular Tachycardia/Ventricular Fibrillation
- Asystole
- Pulseless Electrical Activity
- Acute Coronary Syndromes
- Bradycardia & AV Blocks
- Unstable Tachycardia
- Stable Tachycardia
- Acute Ischemic Stroke
Cardiac Arrest Management
- Given a patient situation, perform competently as a team leader for a simulated cardiac arrest,
physically demonstrating the delivery of all electrical interventions.
Written Examination.
- Obtain a minimum score of 80% in a closed book, multiple-choice written examination.
